This vacancy is for an APPRENTICESHIP BEAUTICIAN working initially as a receptionist while we train you and provide experience doing treatments to eventually become a full time beautician - Please DO NOT apply if you are not prepared to work as an apprentice for at least 12 months.

The receptionist will take care of our computerised reception system and salon front of house, whilst also helping to keep the salon clean and tidy to support the beauticians in their work. It is not a large salon with an average of 4 stylists working each day. The successful candidate will need a clear and friendly telephone voice and should enjoy dealing with the public. Experience of working in reception and of a hair salon will be a great advantage, but training will be given to a candidate with potential. A good basic education is necessary. Although the computer does the sums, good basic numeracy and spelling and grammar will give confidence when charging customers, selling products, handling money and when making client notes and sending short emails. The salon has very active social media and online marketing therefore you will need to have an understanding of social media and work with management to be able to create content that can be used for promotion. Whilst doing this you will support the salon Beauticians and be trained in all the relevant salon treatments and begin performing treatments on clients.

Main Duties & Responsibilities - You will need to have a good understanding of all salon products and treatments in order to be able to recommend the appropriate product or treatment as required. You will need to have the confidence to onsell products to clients in order to maintain products sales. As the first person any client or prospective client sees you must be able to project a pleasant and knowledgeable demeanour. We use a computer system called Phorest to manage our booking diary and provide marketing support, you need to be comfortable with computer systems and be keen to learn new skills. The majority of our bookings are done online and therefore you must be able to manage the booking diary so that the best use of time is being provided with as little opportunity for gaps as possible. You should have good communication skills on all levels using a multitude of formats including emails, text message, phone and in person and therefore enjoy dealing with the public. The receptionist is a key role in the salon and crucial to the efficient running of the business. The salon is a warm and friendly place with extremely loyal and supportive clients. This is a busy, varied and rewarding job - never boring - offering considerable job satisfaction to the right person.
