An exciting opportunity has arisen for an advanced pharmacist wishing to apply their skills to improve patient care through effective use of antimicrobial agents. You will work closely with the Consultant Microbiologists and infection control teams in developing strategies to reduce hospital acquired infections and support local, regional and national antimicrobial stewardship programmes.

This will be a one-year fixed term post covering the maternity leave of the existing post holder.

  • Act as a lead in the pharmacy department to support delivery of the Trust’s antimicrobial stewardship strategy.
  • Carry out, plan and support local, regional and national clinical audits relating the antimicrobial use including CQUIN projects.
  • To lead the pharmacy therapeutic drug monitoring service for aminoglycosides to inpatients and home IV therapy patients.
  • To represent the Trust at local, regional and national level to support wider projects relating to antimicrobial stewardship.
  • This post also provides an opportunity to maintain your general clinical pharmacist skills by delivering a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to a designated clinical area.
Applicants must be registered as pharmacists with the GPhC, completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent) and have relevant experience (see person specification).

Applicants will be required to take part in the week-end rota and optional on-call rota.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
