£20,994 - £26,234 per annum (plus additional responsibility allowance £3408 per annum)


Serco is proud to provide the Air Traffic Control function for Hawarden Airport as part of our longstanding partnership with Airbus. The Airport which is located in the beautiful area of North Wales only 15 minutes from the historic City of Chester, 45 minutes from Liverpool and 90 minutes from Snowdon is a key component in the production of the Airbus fleet and is home to a variety of operators and companies.

We are recruiting for an Air Traffic Services Assistant (ATSA) to join our small, highly motivated team. The ATSA provides operational and administrative support in the provision of the Air Traffic Control Service in accordance with the Serco Aviation Safety Management System, regulatory requirements, and local procedures. The nature of this work requires the post holder to establish and maintain effective working relationships: with all departments within the Airport; with the Customer and/or customer representatives; with external agencies, specifically regulatory bodies, such as the CAA and with other relevant stakeholders. Due to the nature of the operation within the airport environment, the role will require the ability to work flexibly which will include early starts, late finishes and weekend shifts.


Primary duties include but are not limited to: Operational support to the Air Traffic Control Officers including coordination with other ATC agencies, handling incoming calls including bookings and complaints carrying out Meteorological Observations when required (once qualified), flight strip and data preparation.

This is a fast-paced role that comes with its challenges; however, you will be part of a hardworking team that take pride in the work we do.


What you’ll need to do the role

A Full UK Driving Licence is an essential requirement for this role. They must have strong Communication Skills. They must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office and other similar programmes. Flexibility and a clear interest in Air Traffic Control / Aviation is essential. Air Traffic Control / Aviation Experience is Desirable. It is desirable to hold a Meteorological Observers Certificate (Full or Restricted).
