This Position is subject to a Enhanced DBS check.

An opportunity has arisen for a part time Advisory Teacher to cover a maternity leave within the Advisory Teaching Service. We are looking for a C&I, C&L and SEMH specialist for these 3 days a week (2 days C&L/SEMH; 1 day C&I); given the breadth of specialism, we would consider a job share for this maternity leave cover, alongside welcoming applicants who could fulfil all specialisms over all 3 days.

The primary focus of this role is to develop inclusive practice and build capacity in schools and educational settings so staff are able to meet the needs of CYP with Communication & Interaction (C&I), Cognition & Learning (C&L) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs by offering advice, training and support to ensure learners meet their potential and achieve good outcomes. They will also work directly with the workforce supporting children and young people with Communication and Interaction, Cognition and learning, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (0-25), so they can access and take part in teaching and learning activities with their peers as independently as possible, and work towards achieving their aspirations.

The role of the Advisory Teacher includes:

  • Contributing to enabling the progress and better outcomes for Gloucestershire children and young people with C&I, C&L and SEMH needs.

  • Supporting school staff in their implementation of the SEN Code of Practice. This includes the provision of advice on inclusive policy, practice and procedures/teaching strategies/resources.

  • Being involved in the process of identification and recommendations for children and young people with SEND, including contributing to Statutory Assessment.
