Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT), Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT) and Harrogate General Hospital (HGH) are high-performing Trusts providing acute and specialist outreach services for local people.

BTHFT, ANHSFT and HGH have formed a joint venture, Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS) to provide pathology services to the three organisations and other local healthcare providers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department as an advanced (senior) Biomedical scientist quality lead working alongside laboratory based Biomedical Scientists, Advanced Biomedical Scientists, Section managers, Cross-site technical leads, Consultant Haematologists, Clinical Directors and Pathology Operational Managers to drive improvements to service.

The post is based at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Airedale General Hospital in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion departments however applicants will be required to work at any of the IPS laboratories as required. The successful candidate will play a senior role in maintaining the quality management system on both sites and will be expected to work at both BRI and AGH.

We are seeking an experienced HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist who has the skills to provide continuity to the QMS, ensuring that the high standards already established within the department are maintained. To be considered for the role you must be suitably qualified (see Person Specification) and have significant discipline specific experience and knowledge in Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Quality Management. The post holder must be willing and able to participate in working rotas including; day shifts, night shifts, weekend long days, bank holidays, early shifts and late shifts to meet the needs of the service. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the department to maintain common policies and procedures within the IPS QMS. Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well- motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by scientific knowledge. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working is essential. All of these skills and attributes are in line with the Trust’s Right Care Behaviours.

The Haematology/Transfusion department hosts Sysmex XN auto-analysers, ACL-TOP 550 coagulation analysers, Alifax/Alifax roller ESR analysers & Ortho Vision blood transfusion analysers.
