This post as part of the Management Accounts Team will provide support to the Senior Staff in the department.

The post has a key role in ensuring that the Trust receives accurate and timely internal financial management information, which includes graphical diagrams, tabular information, to enable the Trust Management Boards to make informed and timely decisions and to monitor progress in delivering statutory financial targets.

The post holder will be expected to meet monthly and annual deadlines to achieve the above, they will work within the policies and procedures set within the department, and work will be managed and assessed at regularly agreed intervals.

The post holder will be the link between finance and some specified departmental managers on a day to day basis in respect of budgetary control issues, budget monitoring and contribution to drawing up of budgets. It is a role which involves a significant amount of non-routine, unpredictable tasks which require to be undertaken with minimal supervision, and immediately so the post holder should be able to adapt to these work situations.

The role will require knowledge of accounting principles, good IT skills as keyboard use is a significant part of the role, an understanding of the internal management arrangements and strong communication skills.

1) Assist the Management Accountants in the collation of budget information to enable the production of corporate financial reports for internal and external monitoring.

2) Assist the Management Accountants in ensuring that the monthly management information accurately reflects the Trusts financial position.

3) Provide financial training, advice and support to department managers in understanding and interpreting financial information.

4) Assist in maintaining systems for ensuring appropriate adjustments are made to the financial ledger in relation to transfers of budgets between departments.

5) Assist in maintaining systems to enable routine analysis and ledger adjustments to be made following procedures and to meet the differing needs of users

6) Carries out complex calculations in regards to maternity and sick leave changes. Which later helps to calculate the effect of skill mix changes, changes to service delivery, or external changes, forecasting the impact on the financial position of the Trust and analysing and forecasting financial trends so that strategic decisions can be made

7) Assist the Management Accountants with the production of ad hoc financial reports for internal management decision making and external reporting.

8) To assist in the planning and organise processes & procedures to meet current and future needs, implementing new procedures and systems that are in line with the Trust policies and objectives.
