Are you looking for a change? A new post, in a new location?

Why not consider a move to Shetland – Islands of Opportunity*.

Would you like to be part of a remote and rural island community, where you can deliver truly person-centred care and support to individuals across the life span? Then this may be the opportunity you have been looking for.

We have vacancies for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP) to help support our General Practice teams across Shetland. The post holder will work flexibly as part of an established ANP team, providing a front line service for general practice patients in various different Health centres. Support and supervision is available from designated General Practitioners (GP’s).

As part of the ANP team you will support the ongoing development of a range of patient services eg. Provision of out of hours cover, improving access to healthcare in remote areas and improving patient choice in regards to accessible healthcare professionals.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners will see patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Based on patient history, clinical assessment and a comprehensive physical examination, utilising expert knowledge and clinical judgement, the ANP will be able to identify the potential diagnosis. The ANP will be able to initiate laboratory and radiological investigations, make referrals, prescribe and evaluate treatments appropriate to the clinical situation and needs of the patient.

As an experienced nurse with Registration on Part 1 of the NMC Register, you will possess extensive post registration experience. A Master’s degree/PgDip in Advanced Practice which incorporates a programme of Advanced Clinical Examination Skills is also an essential requirement for this post. Candidates are also required to possess an Extended Independent (non-medical) Prescribing qualification. Evidence of ongoing professional development is essential.

A Band 6 development post moving to a Band 7 on completion of training would be considered for the right candidate.
