About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an extremely well-organised and motivated individual to join our world-leading mathematics department as the Administrator for the ESPRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Partial Differential Equations: Analysis and Applications (PDE). This is a fixed-term, part-time (0.5 FTE) position, and is available until 30 September 2022.
The CDT is in its final years, with the last cohort of students having started their studies in September 2018. For further details, please visit http://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/study-here/postgraduate-study/partial-differential-equations-epsrc-cdt
Reporting through to the Head of Academic Administration, you will play a key role in providing integrated administrative support to the PDE-CDT Directors and associated faculty members. You will assume responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the CDT and will act as trusted advisor on the non-academic aspects, providing advice and guidance to around 40 DPhil students and over 10 faculty and researchers involved with the CDT.
You will oversee the financial management of the PDE-CDT’s EPSRC grant budget to the order of £4.31M, providing the Directors with management information and reports relating to budgeting and forecasting, and liaising closely with colleagues in the departmental Finance Team as appropriate.
As the Administrator for the PDE-CDT, you will also have the opportunity to coordinate and oversee the delivery of CDT courses and training, and to organise events such as workshops and conferences. You will also provide secretarial support for the PDE-CDT’s three Committees.
About you
We are looking for candidates with proven experience of the financial management of projects, supplemented by prior experience of working within a Higher Education institution or similarly complex organisation. You must be able to demonstrate previous experience of running events, proven IT skills and an ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
We proudly hold a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award and an institutional Race Equality Charter Bronze Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our strategic aim to improve staff equality and diversity, we would particularly welcome applications from BIPOC candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type within the department.
