Accounts and Finance Assistant Apprentice

We’re recruiting for an apprentice finance assistant with a keen eye for detail, and a diligent and conscientious approach. We use Xero (cloud-based accounting software) so any experience would be beneficial, but if not, you’d be ready and eager to learn through the apprenticeship scheme.

You will need careful attention to detail to support our Finance Manager and Finance Assistant and become a key member of the finance team. You’ll be responsible for the company’s many transactions, ensuring everything is handled on time, correctly and reliably, enabling our management accountant to create accurate management reports and work on financial strategy.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the management accountant by processing the transactions of an £8M turnover business, growing to £10M (and beyond)
• Liaise with suppliers
• Process purchase invoices
• Match POs to purchase invoices
• Supplier statement reconciliations
• Process sales invoices
• Reconcile bank transactions
• Set up bank payments
• Make installer payments and CIS deductions
• Other finance and accountancy tasks

Successful completion of this apprenticeship will provide you with:

• Finance skills and an AAT or equivalent qualification

• GCSE in maths and English (A*-C) or (9-4) or equivalent
• Maths or Business A level or BTEC advantageous but not essential

• Pentagon Play are huge supporters of the apprenticeship scheme and they’re committed to helping staff with their development. After the apprenticeship, there will be a £1000 a year training fund, which could support next level AAT or further apprenticeship. A full-time position will have a salary between £18 – 22k

• Driving would be an advantage due to the location of the office

AAT Level 2 Finance Assistant Standard:

• Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English if required
• Excellent Work Experience
• End-Point Assessment (EPA)
• You will be assigned a personal tutor to help guide you through your apprenticeship and your training will be 100% completed in the workplace
