PURPOSE STATEMENT

  • Responsible for effective management of the accounts assistants (payable and receivable)
  • Manage Balance Sheet Accounts and associated transactions
  • Responsible for accurate and timely VAT records
  • Ensure adequate financial controls and systems are in place

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Team Management
  • Manage roles and responsibilities and development of the accounts assistants
  • Develop a cross functional, multi skilled accounts assistants
  • Provide the leadership, motivation and encouragement of the team
Integrity of Financial Records
  • Assist in the timely and accurate month end close within agreed deadlines
  • Responsible for the submission of VAT, EC Sales & Intrastat and ONS surveys. Ensure record keeping & reporting rules are adhered to
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely processing of all transactions
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements
  • Ensure clean annual audit opinion
Financial Controls & Systems
  • Develop, operate and maintain an effective system of internal controls to ensure a clean general ledger
  • Ensure efficient processes within the financial function and within cross functional processes involving finance
  • Ensure EDI functionality with customers is set up and maintained
  • Maintain daily cashflow reporting to ensure supplier payments are made in line with agreed terms
Reporting and Analysis
  • Develop and manage purchase ledger & sales ledger reports, control systems and internal audit
  • Quarterly Balance Sheet reports to WHQ including Leases, Prepaid expenses GRNI accounts
  • Develop cross functional reporting with Procurement and other teams within the business
  • Ad hoc financial analysis as required
Business Improvement Activities
  • Manage the purchase ledger and sales ledger modules of D365
  • Proactively identify and implement cost saving measures
  • Support Finance Manager in any other business improvement/analysis projects

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Critical

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience of Finance
  • Proven experience as a Finance Administrator
  • Degree qualified
  • Strong commercial thinking and financial awareness
  • Control costs and thinks in terms of profit, loss and added value

Desirable

  • Good VAT, EC Sales and Intrastat knowledge in a similar environment.
  • AAT qualified
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience of working in the Food or Manufacturing sectors
