The role

As a senior member of the Alpharmaxim team you will:

  • Lead the organic business growth of your designated accounts by building valued relationships with clients based on your ability to provide strategic direction and leadership.
  • Oversee project management of assigned accounts to agreed financial ratios and in line with project specifications; support the full commercial team to meet or exceed financial goals.
  • Take commercial ownership of new business opportunities, including working closely with the Director of Strategic Development and Editorial lead to devise strategy, develop content to be presented to the client and oversee project management and budget development. You will also play an instrumental role in pitch teams, attending pitches and presenting appropriate elements.
  • Maintain an oversight of resourcing levels across the different functions and work with other Account Directors/Operations Director to help balance workloads and address resourcing issues as they arise.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients regarding team performance and client service – raise issues, provide feedback and engage in discussions relating to strategy and planning.
  • Take on line management responsibilities for up to four team members, including Account Assistants, Account Executives and Account Managers

The candidate

The ideal candidate will, as a minimum, hold A levels and have an excellent understanding of the drug development and medical communication process. A degree in life sciences, business or marketing is desirable. Previous work experience should include a proven track record of working within a medical communications environment (minimum 5 years) with at least 2 years spent successfully leading an account team and line managing and training more junior personnel.

  • Aptitude to understand the science pertaining to the education of a therapy area and marketing of a product.
  • Ability to devise a strategy that demonstrates an understanding of the client’s goals and objectives.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Clear understanding of the financial reporting of projects and excellent numeracy skills.
  • Ability to build influential relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Personnel management.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project).
