Role overview: As part of the IT Team you will work primarily on new projects and integrations. Your primary focus will be .NET development with an expectation that you will also work with scripting languages, databases, messaging & cloud. Working on new solutions you will deliver well designed code with automated unit tests. You will also build new solutions that should work seamlessly with existing code, requiring extensive analysis of legacy systems. Working as part of a small multi-disciplinary team you will support the applications you develop and work collaboratively to ensure everyone in the team can fill every technical role required. AGL is in a period of strong growth, providing impetus for a lot of development work alongside opportunities to get involved in DevOps activities. Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with IT Support colleagues across Activate Group to understand common issues & workarounds with applications to ensure fast defect resolution. Develop software using OOP best practices and relevant design patterns Develop software following Test Driven Development (TDD) methodology Develop automated scripts for test automation toolsets Develop automated deployment/rollback scripts Effective management of source code & version control Proactively ensure a multi-disciplinary team by promoting knowledge sharing and working collaboratively Promote the use of automation over manual process Creation and maintenance of non-production environments as required Skills and experience: Hardworking and can-do attitude Logical, analytical, numerate with strong attention to detail Good communication skills Keen interest in technology & coding Demonstrable C# programming skills, including use of delegates, Entity Framework Some familiarity with best practice object-oriented design principles and design patterns Some experience using a version control system (git preferred) An understanding of database design (to 3rd Normal Form) and experience of SQL An ability to read and understand XML and JSON file formats Any scripting: Windows PowerShell, JavaScript is advantageous A general understanding of asynchronous processing A general understanding of service architecture Solution-orientated looking to get to the bottom of an issue and use initiative A little bit about us: The Activate Group of companies specialise in accident management services and partner with some of the country’s best-known fleet providers and insurers to service hundreds of thousands of claims a year.
