The Maritime Helicopter Integrated Information Environment (MHP IIE) Program entails the set-up and in-service support of a large Enterprise system. The system is used for the efficient management of the maintenance of the Maritime Helicopters, its training environment, as well as its performance management, configuration management and collaboration management for all clients and contractors. The system is in use on land and at sea.

The solution comprises a combination of custom software developed for the program as well as COTS software and the infrastructure of client devices and deployed/portable maintenance devices, servers and middleware. The set-up phase is complete and the program has been in in-service support for five years. Many activities are expected in the next few years, as the last helicopters are deployed, with continuation for yet many additional years.

You will be responsible to work as part of a team supporting various custom applications in the Integrated Information Environment for the Maritime Helicopter Program, but primary focus will be on updating and supporting a custom piece of software used in seamlessly moving aircraft and maintenance data across different environments, at home, ashore or deployed at sea.

Responsibilities
  • Write well-designed, testable code to implement new features, correct defects or improve the product from a usability or performance perspective
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and problem solve simple to complex software and data problems
  • Resolve complex issues in applications development
  • Translate customer needs and requirements into application solutions
  • Support integrated applications for business clients
  • Develop and implement strategies to address complex technical challenges
  • Provide environment support for a variety of applications and programs (including remote support for isolated environments)
  • Maintain, manage and update technical system documentation
  • Foresight to anticipate and address potential issues before they become issues
  • Work with the cross functional application support team on a daily basis
  • Identify and Evaluate Technology Solutions
  • Provide semi-regular after-hours support of the IIE system
  • Document support issue resolutions
Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent college education or equivalent job experience
  • 2-5 years relevant work experience using Java for high-traffic web or event-driven systems or project-related experience using Java
  • Expertise in object-oriented design methodology
  • Excellent understanding of Java fundamentals, data structures and algorithms, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture
  • Experience with web services, or API development for commercial products
  • Experience with Microsoft .Net would be considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to translate business problems into code, write modular, well-tested and maintainable code
  • Analysis and complex problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work in a support team environment
  • Ability to diagnose & address application issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to hold a Canadian Security Clearance & Controlled Good Clearance Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit
