Bioganix Ltd have a new position for a Health & Safety Officer. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a driven, loyal, organised person to join our company and take control of our Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems.

Bioganix Ltd is predominantly a waste processing company located in a rural setting near Bonby, Brigg. The successful candidate will need to hold a full UK driving licence. We currently employ 30 staff but have a continual flow of 3rdparty hauliers, visitors and sub subcontractors through our site. It is intentional that our site will soon be operational 24/7. In addition to site activities, we have remote agricultural working and in-house haulage.

We are looking for someone to review and maintain our existing policies and implement new systems and procedures where necessary to ensure the health and safety of all.

Reporting to the site manager, and ultimately the Managing Director you will be responsible for:

• Initial review of existing management system, including policies, procedures and forms, with continuous improvement where necessary. Ongoing review of all as necessary.
• Review of risk assessments and method statements (to include preparation of where necessary)
• Carrying our H&S, Quality & Environmental site inductions with new employees, visitors & sub-contractors on site
• Carrying out ongoing tool-box talks with staff
• Leading a monthly H&S meeting with management to address priorities, upcoming/on-going projects etc, to include H&S statistical reporting
• Ensuring that Bioganix is updated with new H&S Legislation
• Dealing with HSE if required
• Retention of ISO 9001 & 14001 accreditation
• Near-miss & incident reporting
• Support to transport manager monitoring working time
• Liaison with customers & suppliers alike with regards to our or their H&S system requirements, to also include site audits if required
• Working with engineering manager to ensure equipment servicing schedules and monitoring

The successful candidate will join the company with a view to learning our processes and understanding the company’s business objectives so that they can improve and develop a robust health & safety system to compliment.

The position would be Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm, however, we would expect some flexibility where required to ensure the role is executed sufficiently i.e. tool-box talks being carried out at end of shifts etc.

Bioganix Ltd currently holding ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management. We would expect the successful candidate to oversee these management systems and undertake annual renewals of such. In addition, it is our intention that the successful candidate, after an initial settling-in period within the company, could achieve ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management accreditation.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience working in a Health & Safety position
• Hold NEBOSH Certification or Diploma level, preferably in ‘General’ or ‘Environmental’ areas
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• A good understanding of UK H&S Legislation
• Flexible approach to workload, with ability to effectively prioritise

Bioganix Ltd will support the ongoing training needs of the successful candidate within the H & S, Quality & Environmental parameters as required by the company.
