We’re currently looking for a Finance Assistant to join us at our Sainsbury’s sites in Northampton. Due to business growth. You’ll be responsible to produce clear, accurate results and accounts to our client and internal customers, informative analysis of data to the operation, review of accurate payroll charges whilst supporting the Assistant Finance Manager and Regional Finance Manager.

What you’ll do on a typical day:


  • Responsible for the weekly procurement process, systematically raising purchase orders, applying appropriate P&L coding, confirmation of PO number to suppliers and goods receipting
  • Preparing weekly client reporting, consolidating data, support the production of client weekly results, including agency payroll / core payroll
  • Responsible for supporting the Assistant Finance Manager in the period close including accruals and prepayments, reconciliation to Client budget invoice, calculation of period end true-up, and balance sheet preparation
  • Support the team in compilation of the client period commercial pack and reviewing payroll reports and reconciliation of payroll charges
  • Producing internal reports to support the operation including absence analysis, indirect activity analysis, tracking exceptional activity, and reconciliation of fixed costs


What you need to succeed at GXO:


  • AAT qualified or working towards
  • Experience within a similar role and with open book contracts
  • Knowledge of financial management systems. Experience of SAP would be advantageous
  • Experience of working with MS Excel, Power Point, WFD T&A
  • Experience in the distribution sector or similar in size and complexity highly desirable
