As a Disaster Recovery / Cloud Specialist you’ll be joining a well-established assurance team expanding its remit in support of the Group meeting key industry technology resilience regulation.

Within Group Services & Security (Core Infrastructure & IT Operations), our approach to hybrid working is still emergent but you should expect to be in office circa 2 days per week with home-working available for the remaining days.

Annual basic salary:

* Halifax, Manchester, Edinburgh: £57,078 - £66,591 + exceptional rewards package

* London: £66,744 - £77,868 + exceptional rewards package

About the role:

You’ll be working in an environment driving our efforts to ensure we afford appropriate protections and resilience to our use of Private and Public Cloud offerings across multiple providers/key partners. You’ll drive and enhance our assurance operating model to cater for use of the Cloud through our Service Introduction process and will play a key role in the delivery of appropriate recovery and proving solutions as part of an ongoing assurance testing schedule covering critical IT applications. Our ability as a Group to restore customer services following a severe event is very much in the spotlight, with Cloud offerings playing an increasing part of our journey to ensure Britain prospers. As part of the role, you will also be trained in Disaster Recovery Assurance processes in support of a matrix management ethos embedded across the wider team.

A track record working within IT either at an application or infrastructure level, spanning across both Cloud and Traditional is a must. As is an appreciation of the different technology platforms which underpin the Group’s critical business infrastructure and applications.

You’ll need to show a real passion for developing new approaches for building and assuring the DR solutions as they migrate on to cloud environments. Showing initiative and independent drive will be key to forging new relationships and solutions on our Cloud journey. Working across multiple technology and platform areas and supporting the delivery of key resilience programmes of work.

What we need from you:

Essential skills & experience:

  • Good & demonstrable knowledge of the Public and Private Cloud technologies and products.
  • Experience supporting large Programmes and Projects and Service Introduction processes.
  • Self-drive with evidence of delivering Cloud Proving approaches.
  • Experience in identification and highlighting of risks
  • Good customer awareness with the ability to influence and educate at Snr Manager level
  • Strong communication skills - report writing and creation of power point slide decks
  • Ability to remain agile and respond to changes in what will be a complex / changing environment

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Awareness of IT Disaster Recovery planning & proving
  • Experience of MS Azure and Google GCP Clouds specifically
  • Knowledge of Chaos Engineering
  • Experience of IT Incident/Change management process
