XYZ Rail have an exciting opportunity for a Stores/Yard Person to join the team.
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria
Salary: Competitive Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About Us: We deliver design, construction, maintenance, and enhancement projects for both the rail and non-rail sectors, offering complete packages encompassing buildings and civils, structures, earthworks & geotechnical, lineside infrastructure, vegetation clearance, fencing, drainage and permanent way works. We also manage specialist industrial and commercial schemes such as multi-model distribution warehousing, office buildings, rail to road transport interchange depots and maintenance facilities. We also deliver groundworks and civils and install all types of pavements including “ALL Weather” surfacing for racetracks, aircraft stands and aprons, wood storage facilities, lorry parks etc. We have a specialist fleet of Rail and Civils Plant and Equipment which as well as servicing our contracts and is available for External Hire. We provide Logistics and Storage (Including Major Incident Response) 24hr service individually bespoke for clients’ needs and requirements. Stores/Yard Person-The Role: To provide effective support to the plant department along with customers internal and external. Work to an acceptable standard ensuring stock control and yard efficiency including all plant, PPE, materials, fuels, and loose lifting equipment are maintained, traced, and stored as to company policies and procedures. Working a rolling 3-week shift pattern 40 hours per week. Stores/Yard Person
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out support to hire desk
  • Effective issue of plant and equipment, Effective return of plant and equipment & Completion of all hire paperwork, as required by company procedures
  • Control stock levels and issue of all store’s consumables and completion of associated paperwork
  • Assist in the completion of stock takes
  • Receive all deliveries and distribute paperwork
  • Assist in the control of all equipment to be calibrated and inspected in line with company procedures
  • Assist in the control of all loose lifting & rope access equipment in line with company procedures
  • Carry put PAT testing of all electrical equipment
  • Keep yard and all storage areas clean and tidy
  • Carry out deliveries and collections when required
  • Carry out effective security of plant yard against agreed shift patterns (nights & weekends)
  • Assist load/unload materials & plant
  • Wash off & refuel plant & equipment Stores/Yard Person
  • You: The successful candidate will already have previous knowledge and experience the Rail Industry and the plant, tools and materials required to complete the related works.
  • Full Driving License
  • Basic IT knowledge in Word, Excel, access Databases and Outlook
  • PTS Competence
  • PAT testing qualification
  • Manual Handling
  • Forklift truck experience Stores/Yard Person
