Fencing Centre Delivery Driver / Yard Operative

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fencing Centre Operative to join us based at our site in Brigg on a full-time or part-time basis. Weekdays and some Saturday shifts are required.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a fencing or builders merchant yard. A valid FLT licence would be beneficial but applicant must have had previous FLT experience - ideally with large bulky items .

A full, clean driving license is essential as some delivery work may also be required to cover holidays and sickness.

This is a physically role requiring lifting. You will mainly be working alone doing manual handling, so candidates must be have the ability to lift fence panels, gates, posts, planters, garden furniture and other similar products. For heavier delivery drops, a driver’s mate will be provided. Most deliveries will be to retail customers, local to our Brigg centre, who cannot manage to take goods home in their own vehicle.

The role will involve picking out customer orders from the yard, loading them onto the delivery vehicle, keeping the yard stocked up and helping customers

It is important that the candidate can manage their time and use their own initiative, as well as having a good sense of direction!

WHAT EXPERIENCE/SKILLS WE NEED FROM OUR DELIVERY DRIVER:

• Experience of working within a Timber/Builder’s Merchant is beneficial (full training can be provided for the right applicant)
• FLT licence
• Full, clean driving licence
• Previous experience of working in outdoor setting in a physical demanding role
• Previous retail/customer service experience is essential
• Counterbalance forklift truck license is essential

The successful candidate will be working in a close-knit team and will be dealing with our customers on a daily basis, so we were looking for someone with the following inter-personal skills:

• Good attention to detail
• Ability to complete manual handling and prepared to work in the outdoors throughout the year
• Reliable and posses good time management

This is a full-time position, but part time positions are available, also. We are able to accommodate flexible working patterns, but we understand that the world of work is changing and we are open to adapting to new ways of working e.g. to accommodate family commitments. Therefore, we are open to discuss different working patterns with the successful candidate. This could be flexible hours, job sharing, and/or part-time hours. We cannot guarantee to meet all requests for flexible working, but we are prepared to look to see if we can make it happen.

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday - Friday 7:50- 4:30pm
• Saturday 8:30-4:30
• Finish time is 5:15pm in the Summer
