Workshop Technician Electro-Mechanical

Location: Handforth Dean

Contract: Initial 6 months

Pay rate: £13-£15ph (dependant on experience)

Shift: Mon - Thu 08:00 -16:00 Fri 08:00-14:45 (30 minutes lunch)

The position will be held in our Handforth Dean facility, which is responsible for supply, repair and retrofit of machine tool spindles and motors. You will work as part of a well-established and close-knit team

The spindle and motor portfolio of our customers is of a varied nature and on that basis, we recognize and support the need to offer full training to the successful candidate.

What do I need to qualify for this job?
  • A good understanding of mechanical fitting and machining.
  • A keen desire to learn new skills
  • An individual who prides their self on punctuality and reliability with excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work as part of a team and carry out all work in a timely and efficient manner
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety standards with the ability to recognise and help manage a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
  • The ability to read engineering drawings
  • Be able to use basic hand tools.
  • Training is provided
Advantageous but not required skills:
  • Competent in the operation of workshop equipment such as lathe, milling machine, pillar drill, etc
  • Experience of electrical systems and exposure to associated measurement devices such as DMM’s, volt meters, etc
  • Previous experience working to close tolerances and using associated measuring equipment
  • Experience in the use of lifting equipment - however full training will be provided



What are my responsibilities?
  • Strip drown and assessment of incoming machine tool spindles, motors, fan and pump assemblies
  • Fault finding and root cause analysis to establish the reasons for failure and where possible mitigate future re-occurrence
  • Working with technical specialists both in the UK and Germany to formulate condition reports - identifying what is required to rebuild the product to the desired customer standard
  • Managing stock and ensuring availability of spares in readiness for rebuild
  • Clean, polish and prepare spindle components prior to assembly
  • Rebuild of products to OEM specifications
  • Fully test and, where appropriate, calibrate products before returning to customer, this includes running the products to top speed and analysing the results - encoder set-up, tool sensor set-up, gripping forces, run-outs, etc
  • Working within industry standard guidelines such as health and safety, quality and risk standards, safety critical checks and environmental standards



Please note random Drugs & Alcohol testing is undertaken on-site, a medical and drug and alcohol check will be required prior to start date.
