Women’s and Girls’ Development Officer Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to work as part of the Community Sports team and lead on the development of the Women’s and Girls’ offer within the Community company.

Altrincham FC Community Sports has a tradition of providing opportunities for women and girls of all ages and abilities to participate in grassroots football.

The Women’s and Girls’ Development Officer will support the Community company’s football offering for all girls and women across Altrincham & South Trafford.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of our Girls’ & Women’s Football programmes. In addition to this, the Officer will also coach & lead delivery on a number of our key girls’ Football Programmes.

This post will strengthen our existing offer through providing high-quality football coaching and playing pathways for all women and girls in our area.

The postholder will work in partnership with other partners, e.g. Altrincham FC, Manchester FA, Cheshire FA, schools etc, within Altrincham & South Trafford to identify areas of greatest need and work together to develop pathways to enable women and girls to participate and enjoy playing football whatever their age or their ability.

Salary: £22,000- £23,000 depending on experience

Time commitment: Full-time (37.5 hours) based at Altrincham FC Community Sports Offices.

These days and hours are flexible depending on the sessions running. Weekend & Evening availability is essential.

Initial 1 year contract subject to further funding.

Women’s and Girls’ Development Officer

Objectives

• Encourage women and girl’s enthusiasm and participation in sport and physical activity, in particular their longer-term participation in sport.

· Liaise with a number of partners across a range of schools, sports clubs, community groups and service providers from the public and private sector. Specifically build a strong relationship with AFC Junior Girls and create a pathway from junior football to adult football.

· Support AFC Women with player recruitment.

• Provide administration support for the AFC Women’s squads and work closely with the management team.

• Organise, prepare, and deliver football coaching sessions as agreed in a work programme

with the Community Manager. This is to include (not exhaustive):

a. Holiday courses

b. School to Club links, with specific focus on Secondary schools

c. Community based sessions

d. Out of school hours learning coaching programmes

e. Develop & manage a Girls PDC for foundation level players.

• May be required to work AFC and AFC Women’s home match days, evening work,

weekends and Bank holidays when instructed by the AFC Community Sports Manager.

• Ensure that suitable progression pathways are available for women and girls to reach the most suitable level of participation, regardless of their ability or personal circumstances. This will involve linking, and maintaining a relationship with, relevant schools and clubs.

• Organise, manage and deliver other events as relevant to the programme- for example girl’s tournaments and festivals, open/taster days.

• When required, provide cover and assistance for other coaching staff across all areas that the Community Company operates. This cover may extend to attending meetings, conferences, workshops and events if required.

• Deliver a range of football-based activities that are structured, progressive, fun and of a high quality, in a safe environment, which are accessible to all targeted young people.

• Work with a range of young people from targeted areas including ‘at risk of offending young

people’ and vulnerable socially excluded young people, to build up positive relationships.

· Record & update attendance data for all Women’s & Girls programme sessions on Views system.
