Come and join us and be a visitor!

A part of the Mencap Visiting Service we are looking for a volunteer to check in and visit a lady in her 70’s who has a learning disability.

Sometimes the people we visit are not always looking for someone to stop and chat. You’re role will be to check that they are happy, well and content, along with chatting to staff about their general wellbeing.

You will chat to staff about what they have been up to recently and what they are interested in.

You role will also involve dropping off a small gift from the Mencap Visiting Service.

When & where do I need to be available?

  • V isits will be every 2 months and can be during the week or weekends.

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Friendly, patient and reliable

About This Service

We offer a lifelong befriending service for people with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of individual people with a learning disability.

Our visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing.

In many cases, our visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
