Howdens Joinery has an exciting opportunity for you to join our busy team as a Warehouse Operations Manager at our Manufacturing and Distribution site in Runcorn, Cheshire.

As a Warehouse Operations Manager, you will be responsible for effectively managing a team of Group Leaders and Warehouse Operatives to meet key site objectives. In your role, you will oversee all core elements including picking, goods in, storage and loading processes as well as first line performance, quality management and key Warehouse costs.

A natural leader, you will ensure that warehouse operations are managed within the site budget. You’ll also take responsibility for the operating procedures and disciplines within the warehouse, ensuring full compliance and undertake the planning and deployment of labour resources to meet the volume of despatch, picking and goods-in requirements. You must be able to work in a high pressurised environment and be able to plan strategically to ensure successful attainment of warehouse objectives to the correct standard and within the agreed timescales.

Excellent people management skills are essential for this Warehouse Operations Manager role, as you will proactively motivate and supervise a team of Group Leaders to deliver safe core warehouse activities. You will also be able to competently monitor and evaluate the performance of your team members on a regular basis and provide feedback where needed.

Knowledge And Experience Required
  • Degree educated with 5+ years of Warehouse Operations Management experience.
  • Relevant Health & Safety Qualifications
  • Excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Proficiency in team building, staff development and influencing others.
  • Evidence of successful people and performance management experience.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness.
  • Customer service focused with a flexible approach to work.
  • Good level of PC literacy particularly MS Office packages
  • Proven ability to show the drive and energy to challenge self and others.
  • Proven approach to problem solving and change management.
  • Experience of financial management within a warehousing environment.
  • Experience of applying health and safety within a fast paced warehousing environment.
  • Experience of working with and applying HR procedures.
