The Role:

As UK Warehouse Operations Manager you will lead the entire UK Warehousing team to provide a world class service to all key stakeholders. With a team of circa 43-50 staff, you will be responsible for leading the team to deliver results and implement efficiencies to outperform previous periods.

You will be responsible for movement of all finished goods in and out of the warehouse including liaising with carrier and freight agents to ensure smooth supply and delivery. You will lead the warehouse in best practice in health and safety compliance, including repairs & maintenance and facilities support for the MEDC and 3rd party warehouse sites.

This cross functional role will require involvement and support to deliver new international logistics solutions to develop Mulberry’s evolving supply chain.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team

  • Lead the warehousing team to ensure that the implementation of the sales plan against seasonal demand is smooth, within budget and outperforms previous periods.
  • Deal with performance issues quickly and consistently.
  • Build a plan to deliver continuous staff improvement, though engaging employees.
  • Liaise with HR to manage warehouse recruitment and staff performance issues as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the Logistics management team to support them in the vision of achieving a world class logistics function.
  • Understand global logistics to provide solutions to senior management on our supply chain strategy.
  • Lead projects as defined by the Head of Group Logistics associated with international warehousing creating cross functional working parties to ensure robust solutions are put in place.
  • Be part of the Leadership Team and contribute strategically to the business agenda.
  • Carry out additional duties and to take extra responsibilities as and when required.

Operations

  • Responsible for all inbound functions, including box checks, put away, returns and receipt of goods.
  • Manage stock rotation within the DC and 3rd party sites to maximise efficiency.
  • Key relationship holder with key 3rd party logistics suppliers and associated site management.
  • Liaise with courier and freight partners to manage demand and peak planning.
  • Manage outbound workload for all channels. Forecast resource against demand and clearly communicate to stakeholders.
  • Have clear understanding of business critical software such as the warehouse management system, ERP, reporting tools and recommend enhancements to improve efficiencies.
  • Support stock take and month end routines.
  • Establish clear process documents and training guides for the operation.
  • Maintenance of a small fleet of vehicles and drivers for same day delivery.
  • Oversee all facilities and site maintenance, this include materials handling equipment, building repairs and general upkeep of the site.
  • Manage the warehouse KPI’s, making recommendations and driving improvements.
  • Lead Health and Safety within MEDC and deliver clear guidance on Health and Safety practices and a safe working environment.

Communication

  • Proactively communicate with the sourcing and transport teams in terms of on time receipt and goods in.
  • Work closely with the Quality, Retail, Wholesale and Digital teams fulfilling orders on time to each channel.
  • Ensure key performance indicators (KPI’s) are established that make improvements to cost or efficiency improvements transparent to management.
  • Participate in team meetings and cross functional projects, offering logistics insights
  • Attend and participate in Company training initiatives as and when instructed to develop skills.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Displays high level of technical/functional/professional knowledge and expertise in warehousing practices.
  • Experience of Manhattan warehouse management system an advantage.
  • Understand multi modal logistics and associated incoterms.
  • Aware of latest logistics and supply chain innovations.
  • Makes high quality decisions.
  • Provides and communicates inspiration and clear direction in line with the Company culture.
  • Manages change effectively and proactively.
  • Displays strong interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Communicates information clearly, accurately in a timely manner.
  • Regular travel within the UK and overseas might be required.
