WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE - DAY SHIFT

We have a number of Warehouse Operative roles which we are recruiting for at our Bakkavor Wigan site.

Rate of pay - £11.90 per hour
Shift Pattern -Dayshift - Friday to Monday 05:45am - 16:05pm (37 hours per week)

Bakkavor Meals, based in Wigan, specialises in making chilled ready meals, food to go salads and vegetable accompaniments and employs over 1,000 people. It is part of the Bakkavor Meals sector which has eight factories in the UK.

Our 19,000 employees operate from 39 locations, developing and producing innovative food for a wide variety of occasions and budgets. In the UK, we work with leading grocery retailers, focusing on their own label brands.

The Role:
To receive/store deliveries of raw materials at the right quality standard for onward distribution to production.
Always ensuring these duties are completed in line with Company policies and standard operating procedures, including PPE, Food Safety, Health and Safety, ‘clean as you go’ and ‘Good Manufacturing Practices’.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills and have the ability to work within a small team of people, deliver efficiencies, meet daily performance targets and improve performance.

The key duties include:-
Prepare and operate Fork Lift Truck (FLT), carrying out safety checks in line with procedure.
Receive delivery of raw materials, carrying out quality checks and organising unloading process in line with procedures.
Transfer and store raw materials ensuring accurately labelled.
Conduct material sampling and monitor grading in accordance with procedures.
Supply the team with the correct quantity of raw materials by loading onto machine and accurately recording the amount delivered.
Complete warehouse paperwork ensuring that information is written clearly, accurately and within specified time frames.
Visually check the quality of the product (colour, texture and size) against standard.
Maintain hygiene standards by ensuring the area meets required GMP standards.

To be considered for the role you MUST have:
  • A FLT Licence
  • Proven knowledge and experience in a similar role
  • An understanding of safety operations, maintenance procedures, instructions and customer specifications.
  • The ability to work on their own initiative as well as working well within a team
  • Be able to communicate at all levels within the factory.
