Warehouse Operative - Job Description

Salary – National Living Wage - 40 Hours/Week

Hours - 10am – 6.00pm (Monday-Friday) Plus 1x Weekend in 4

We are looking for a self-starting, organised and motivated warehouse operative for a fast-paced retail operation based in S9.

Your role will to be to ensure that all deliveries are brought into the building and stored appropriately, ensuring a high level of housekeeping and stock availability at all times. You will be part of a small team in a fast moving environment.

You will be involved in picking/packing wholesale orders ready for dispatch, helping in and around the shop and any other duties deemed necessary.

This role involves a lot of physical work and is demanding. Full driving license and previous warehouse experience is desired but not necessary. All necessary workplace training will be given.

The role involves:

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, by hand or with a forklift truck.
  • Checking for damaged or missing items from deliveries.
  • Sorting deliveries into the appropriate storage areas or picking bays, preparing stock ready for sale.
  • Moving stock from bulk storage into picking bays.
  • Picking and packing wholesale orders
  • Assisting the sales team with picking and packing orders when necessary.
  • Picking stock transfers and loading them onto the delivery vehicle.
  • Helping to organise supplier returns.
  • Carrying out routine stock inspections and always working with a focus on stock accuracy.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the warehouse will also be part of the daily routine.
  • With heavy equipment in operation warehouses can be dangerous places, so following workplace health and safety rules will be essential.
