Job Overview

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to come and join our gastroenterology department at an exciting time. We need an experienced, highly motivated individual who can work with our General Medical team to provide high quality patient care. The role of the Ward Manager is pivotal in providing leadership and support to our nurses, while ensuring the department is managed smoothly on each shift. The quality and standard of care for patients is at the centre of this role.

Main duties of the job

You should be positive and adaptable to a changing environment that prides itself on quality and efficiency. You will be given the opportunity to learn and develop new leadership and management skills and act as a role model for best practice to junior staff. This role will also allow for further development opportunities within our team. A calm, diplomatic and caring approach is necessary, and you must have the ability to deal with the varied and challenging demands. You must have the ability to multi-task and prioritise under pressure, work within a large multi-disciplinary team and ensure the trust values are incorporated into practice.

A real understanding of flow and capacity is essential with a developing leadership ability to bring the team with them in achieving our goals.

The post holder will be supported by the Medical Matron and a Head of Nursing all of whom are responsible for leading the Medical Nursing team.
