Wafer Fab Operations Programme Director

Lumentum has an opportunity for a Programme Manager to join a growing operations team with a solid semiconductor wafer fab facility and a proven track-record of engineering management, who will be working across functional team and be responsible to deliver the fab expansion program from the strategic planning, technology roadmap, project conception, budgetary and planning, feasibility stage, facility construction, equipment commissioning, product qualification and customer acceptance.

You will lead all aspects of the wafer fab capacity expansion required from the growing demand of company goal in Optical Transmission and 3D Sensing/Lidar chip products while insuring the seamless existing production ramp, adhering the quality and reliability of our product, meeting a safe workplace and high standard of environment compliance including the environmental sustainability in mind. This job is an onsite assignment and will be based in our Caswell, Towcester office, Northamptonshire. This position will report directly to site leader and part of senior management team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead III-V Compound Semiconductor wafer fab expansion program from the definition of program scope, goals, execution with its key metrics and deliverables covering site facility, equipment, process and product qualification.
  • Align with technical stakeholders, leadership, Lumentum senior management to ensure the latest tools are being used to maximize the opportunity to deliver site-based program to time, cost and quality.
  • Develop an effective relationship with all site functions, contractors, and assembly team to ensure committed deliverables and timelines are achieved.
  • Manage the outcomes and managing the tactical day-to-day delivery of activities.
  • Accountable for the identification and management of program risk and issues along with mitigation and/or workarounds. Escalating risks and issues, with mitigations to the team leader when outside of agreed plan or risk of schedule slip or change of project scope.
  • Responsible for coordinating with functional owners of facility, equipment engineering, process engineering and product engineering to manage resources, budget and capital expenditure. Report facilities budgets supported by Finance business partner.
  • Participate and support in site audit, incident investigation, and employee engagement & feedbacks.
  • Own of the Capital Asset Process (CAR) for Operations and responsible for ensuring appropriate CARs are submitted in a timely manner and tracked to the point of delivery.
  • Embrace a Kaizen (continuous improvement) approach and drive a high performing, engaging team towards zero accident, zero excursion, and zero defect in operations and program execution.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Min. Honours degree or equivalent in Physics, Electronics or equivalent engineering discipline with 15+ years’ experience in Program Management and senior leadership in the area of optoelectronics, semiconductor technology, wafer fabrication, process engineering.
  • Preferred an industrial experience in III-V compound semiconductor fabrication in particular InP and GaAs material and wafer fab construction, product transfer & capacity expansion.
  • A self-driven, independent, methodical and organised team leader with a flexible approach to work, an adaptability to interface with different level and management styles, and fast paced program deliverables.
  • Experience of leading a full program life cycle of all milestones to work within tight budget control and timescale through to mass production.
  • Prince 2, PMP certification and/or Six Sigma/Lean Certifications preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in English to communicate in written, verbal and presentation.
  • Technology savvy, process and data driven orientated mindset.
