The VP, Global Core Tech Strategy, Transformation & Portfolio Management Office is a newly created leadership role with full accountability for Core Tech Strategy, Transformation, End to End Tech Security Services as well as the Business Services and the Portfolio Management Office. This role will be reporting directly to GSK’s Chief Technology Officer and be part of the Core Technology Leadership Team and will have frequent interaction up to and including CFO/CET, as well as Board Level interaction in relation to GSK’s Risk Oversight and Compliance Council. You will lead the strategic direction and ownership of key cross functional strategies for Core Tech as well as GSK Tech. You will develop, build and execute multi-year transformation programmes for Core Tech to catch up and keep abreast with rapidly evolving Tech world. You will have end to end accountability for Security (Identity and Access Management) Services and Core Tech’s involvement in Merger, Acquisitions and Divestment programmes. Finally you will drive efficiencies across business operations and obtaining clear on-going command/control over core processes (financial and governance)

Responsibilities

STRATEGY: Accountable to define, communicate and deliver the Core Tech Strategy that will underpin the overall Tech Strategy; from Front Line Services through to the full technical infrastructure stack of Hosting and into leading edge Enterprise Data & Analytics platforms. Key interaction and building strategic stakeholder relationships with all other BU Tech Leads, Rx, Cx, Vx and all Tech Groups in the “1”.

TECH TRANSFORMATION: To lead and drive all Core Tech Transformation programmes, which will deliver a significant shift in the sourcing model across all Core Tech Streams both operational as well as engineering. To build and deploy to deliver optimal services at a vastly reduced cost (~£32m savings in 2.5 years).

TECH LOCATION STRATEGY: To streamline the Core Tech Location presences, drive to optimised flow-based structures with clear line of sight of Technology “silicon valleys” for future business needs.

CORE TECH OPERATING MODEL: Define and deliver a more streamlined Operating Model along with the associated governance enabling Core Tech to respond to the growing needs of GSK.

CORPORATE TECH SECURITY SERVICES: Lead, deliver and operate GSK wide Identity Access Management Systems and processes in compliance with internal Corporate Risk Policy and external regulators (Sarbanes-Oxley, CISO, GDPR, FDA); along with sole accountability to Audit Risk Committee (ARC) and GSK’s overall Risk Oversight and Compliance Council (ROCC). Both the ARC and ROCC have CET and Board level representatives due to the severity of implication to GSK if risks materialise. This service also includes scope for Advanced Authentication including Private and Public Key Encryption services used to send encrypted data internal and externally to GSK.

MERGERS, ACQUISITIONS & DIVESTMENTS (INC CROSS FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMME DELIVERY): Lead/deliver all MA&D programme involvements across Core Tech and in support with other Tech groups to help drive efficient end to end Tech Services to support GSK advancing business model. This will be key to support the Pfizer integration and also future spin off.

PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT OFFICE: Developing a Value and Agile driven PMO organisation including governance, planning, reporting, change control, quality, risk management, project initiation, resource management and key performance indicators. Drive effective business value driven decision-making, accountability and oversight across the portfolio of projects/programmes along with embedding robust standards and developing/maturing the portfolio through performance management and continuous improvement.

CONTRACTUAL & FINANCE OPERATIONS: Define, deliver and govern all business services across Core Tech for approximately 2600 employees, £140 million in vendor contracts with an overall budget of £300 million.

ENTERPRISE TESTING TOOLS: Define the strategy and deliver all Enterprise Testing Tools along with associated governance and processes for Core Tech and wider Tech functions where applicable.

CONTINUOUS TECH & SERVICE IMPROVEMENT: Define, deliver and sustain a culture of Lean Management to drive operational and performance improvement programmes aligned to multiple drivers, i.e. GSK Survey/Culture or specific service performance improvements that are having a significant impact across GSK

COLLABORATION: Build and maintain relationships in and outside of Tech with key stakeholders, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Group Financial Controller, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), SVP of Tech Strategy and all other Tech LT members as well as senior leadership across the business; just as imperative to also collaborate with external regulators, i.e. Partner level within Deloitte.

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT: Overall management of 200+ employees. Establish clear accountabilities and objectives for direct reports, stretch and coach to maximize performance and potential.

Experience Required

Undergraduate Degree Information Technology & Business essential, MBA preferred

Experience of driving large sourcing transformation across multiple geographies

Experience of building relationships, agreeing and holding external service partners to account

Strong experience of managing Cx level stakeholders including Chief Group Controller as well as Partner level in external audit organisations.

Leadership across a complexed matrixed environment

Leadership of large global diverse teams and cultures

Experience & Leadership of critical Technical Security Services end to end

Operating in a highly pressurised and business critical environment
