CPRE, the national countryside charity, works towards a thriving countryside for everyone. Its Wiltshire branch needs a trustee with expertise in planning and environmental policy to advise on our current campaigns.

What will you be doing?

CPRE Wiltshire is currently actively campaigning on key issues around strategic housing growth, road building and environmental issues related to climate change. To help us grow our influence, we are looking for someone with knowledge or expertise in planning and environmental policy to join our Board of trustees. We offer a great opportunity for you to use your skills and experience to support us in protecting the countryside. As part of a national charity with wide influence the role will be broad and varied.

The role

You will work closely with the Chair of trustees and the members of the Planning sub-group. As a Trustee, your role will also be to advise, guide and reassure the Board that our charity is fulfilling its charitable purpose from an environmental point of view.

All trustees are also invited to put themselves forward for relevant working groups as appropriate to their skills. The Board is made up of independent trustees with a range of experience and expertise.

What are we looking for?

We welcome a wide range of applicants to our Board. You are likely to have already worked in planning in the UK or in the environmental sector with other charities or local government. The primary skills this trustee will need are
  • Expertise and experience in planning and environmental policy, ideally backed by a relevant professional qualification
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent team-working and influencing skills
What difference will you make?

We offer a great opportunity for you to use your skills and experience to support us in protecting the countryside for future generations. As part of a national charity with wide influence the role will be broad and varied.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

As a trustee role, this opportunity will enable you to support a countryside cause that has a real, immediate impact on people’s lives in Wiltshire. You will be contributing to how future generations will live in and experience the countryside. It could also, if you are mid-career, offer opportunities for expanding your network in Wiltshire and for developing management skills.

Before you apply

Please send any queries through Reach. Application deadline is 31 July 2021 when you apply, please also give a short explanation as to why you are interested in the role. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview, probably by Zoom, in August.
