The Trustee Board is looking to have new persons join the Executive Committee at an exciting time in the future development of the Charity, working jointly with external organisations from other sectors, modernising effective services.What will you be doing?Ability, is a charity established in 1955 (registered with Charity Commission under the name of Chesterfield and District Society for People with a Disability). It operates across Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire providing day care, respite, supported living and residential services.Trustees are Executive Committee members who meet every 3 months. The commitment would be to attend these meeting, which last approximately 2 hours.. Trustees oversee the running of the Charity and also its company limited by guarantee.Trustees will be expected to build an effective working relationship with the CEO. Health & Social Care is undergoing many changes and Ability is working towards utilising and developing training to incorporate technology within its services. We are working towards an enabled and effective board that is not restricted to Trustees being able to attend face to face as we will be incorporating technology to overcome this.The Charity is developing as part of a consortium to deliver services within Derbyshire and Trustees who are interested are welcome. Groundbreaking in its thinking, it is seeking Trustees who are risk aware and can bring their expertise in a number of areas to provide the wider skills necessary for future development. The CEO wishes to have an Executive Committee who can guide and help steer the organisation to achieve its aspirations.If you have particular skills that are not listed that you believe would benefit our organisation, we would very much like to hear from you.What are we looking for?We are currently looking to recruit Trustees with the following skills in particular
  • Financial and/or accountancy skills
  • Business development skills
  • Health and Social Care experience
  • Local or Central Government experience
  • Legal
  • Equality and Diversity (learning disability)
  • Health & Safety knowledge
We are looking to have Trustees with as broad a skill base as possible, so should you have skills that are not listed, we would very much like to hear from you.What difference will you make?Ability has 2 current Trustees of many years standing and the organisation recognises that in order to embrace new opportunity, it needs as broad a skill set within its Executive Committee as possible. As an organisation which has been presented with considerable opportunity, it needs to ensure that as wide a field of skills and knowledge needs to enter into the debate so that the correct decisions are made for future development. The contribution of appropriate comments will broaden the discussions and underpin the governance process.Causes
