Consent is a UK charity supporting parental healthcare decisions.Help us shape our strategy and outlook for the coming years, contribute ideas for fundraising and participate in the oversight and governance of the charity. What will you be doing?By its nature our work involves working with parents whose healthcare decisions could be considered unconventional. You would need to feel comfortable with this. We are not, however, looking for people who all agree with each other but for a balance, both in individual attitude and within the board as a whole. Both, alternative and mainstream views are needed, as long as we can listen to each other.Trustees are unpaid volunteers and their duties are summarised by the Charity Commission as

  • Act with reasonable care and skill
  • Ensure your charity is accountable
Not everyone has to be knowledgeable about charity law or finance. The board will collectively make sure that all areas of responsibility are covered. In practical terms the role would need a minimum of regular monthly contact, usually in the form of a zoom call, to fulfil the charity commissions requirements and be involved in the progress and aims of our Charity. We also hope that trustees are able to follow up on some of our projects with support and knowledge. What are we looking for?We are looking for individuals who feel supportive of our aims and who feel they can help us plan our future. This could be experience in strategic planing, setting goals, fundraising ideas, networking, legal advice, etc. It could also be in less grandiose-sounding ways, simply by offering support, listening and giving feedback. What difference will you make?We live in difficult times calling for new ideas and collective effort. Help us stand up for the rights of parents.Causes
  • Children / families
  • Health and well being / research and care
  • Human rights
