Do you want to get involved by becoming the volunteer Treasurer of our Community Centre and rehabilitation Gym? You will be helping us to support people disadvantaged by health, disability, age and social and economic disadvantage.

What will you be doing?

This is an opportunity to get involved in a local community project and to make a difference as our Treasurer.

The Treasurer is full member of the Trustee board. You will work with others to provide direction and oversight to the Community Centre and have a specific role and responsibilities for the Charity’s financial management.

The specific tasks are to
  • ensure effective control and recording of the Charity’s financial resources and transactions
  • prepare bi monthly management accounts, an annual budget and our annual accounts
  • advise on the financial implications of the Charity’s activities and development plans
  • support the Centre Manager and Trustee Board in their respective financial management responsibilities including ensuring that the Charity complies with the reporting requirements of Companies House and the Charity Commission
  • lead the development and implementation of the financial reserves policy, manage the Charity’s overall cashflow and maintain an overview of the Charity’s insurance arrangements
Location and key contacts

You will undertake much of this activity from home at times that suit you.

You will have regular contact will be with other Trustees and the Centre Manage through
  • attendance at the Board’s six meetings a year (second Tuesday of alternative months at 7.00 pm).
  • maintaining regular contact with the Centre Manager in respect of the day to day financial arrangements
  • meetings, as necessary, with the Chair of Trustees and Centre Manager to assist with the overall management of the Centre
What are we looking for?

We Are Looking For Someone Who
  • is interested in and who has the capacity to play this important role in maintaining, promoting and developing the Cambrian Community Centre
  • has the skills and experience to provide leadership to the Charity in respect of its financial management
  • is likely to have had at least 5 years experience in a financial management role and may have a relevant professional qualification
You will need to be able to
  • work effectively and constructively in a meeting environment and with a group of people
  • act, at all times, with integrity and in the best interests of the Charity and the Centre
Ideally you would also have
  • local knowledge and/or residency of a) Queen’s Road Estate b) Richmond Hill Area and/or c) London Borough of Richmond
  • previous experience of working with a small to medium sized charity
We will particularly welcome applicants whose diversity profile and background would broaden the social experience of our trustee board.

We will support you through

a period of overlap with the existing Treasurer and work to provide such other support as is helpful as you establish yourself in this role.

The Centre’s specialist gym provides rehabilitation support for people with health conditions and disabilities, referred by the NHS, from across the local authority area, and makes a significant difference in enhancing their independence and health outcomes.

In addition the Centre’s programme of exercise and leisure activities brings people from the local community together, reducing social isolation and generating community connections.

The effective management of our financial resources will assist us in ensuring the Centre can maximise its impact with those who can benefit from our services.
