  • To engage with your local community, meet new people and be part of a vibrant local team. *To develop new skills with a well respected charity can improve your CV and employability. *Assisting in arranging activities and events by providing information and contacting local activity and or service providers. *Supporting members to take part in activities organised for the group. *Helping to set up and clear away the venue where the group meets. *Preparing and providing refreshments *Potentially helping with other tasks that ensure the smooth running of the group such as risk assessments, fire drills, first aid and gathering feedback from members.

  • The following would suit someone who: *Is good at working with people and helping to support them at meetings and events *Is creative and enjoys helping with community grou activities and working with others to get things done. *Is friendly, has an approachable manner and is comfortable welcoming people with physical difficulties or speech impairements to the group. *Maybe a recovering stroke survivor themselves and wanting to help others in similar circumstances. *Has an interest in Aphasia and assisting our professional speech and language therapists in the running of the communication workshops.

    There is no age restriction, but this role does require some physical effort, so an energetic, able bodied person is preferrred. The Stroke Association provideds all voluntary group supporters with training. Expenses are reimbursed where appropriate. Mandatory training includes: A full one day induction A one day Health and Safety session for groups and Cafes. Additional learning opportunities include group finances, Safeguarding and so much more!
