Climate change education charity, Wicked Weather Watch needs a social media manager to help expand our audience and engagement on multiple platforms, notably Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.What will you be doing?Wicked Weather Watch aims to teach primary students about the climate crisis in a fun and optimistic way while inspiring them to take action in their lives and at school. We do this by giving workshops to local and national schools, giving teacher training, providing talks, and creating resources for schools to take climate action. We need someone who is proficient in using social media (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook) to help us increase our reach in the local area and nationally. We are aiming to increase our engagement on all social media platforms, as a result of implementing a digital marketing strategy that will elevate the profile of the charity.The social media volunteer will be in charge of posting on the social media accounts (notably Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) 2-4 times a week, coming up with a social media marketing strategy and a posting calendar schedule. We will require regular social media reports, with the volunteer liaising with the Education and Projects Coordinator to ensure the timing and content of specific posts. The volunteer may be a part of a small social media team, including other social media volunteers and a graphic designer volunteer. The applicant must be able to work in a team and collaborate with others effectively. We are seeking someone who is highly organised, good at keeping their own time, has experience in social media marketing and/or content creation, and has a passion or interest in climate change education. The applicant must be proficient in using Canva (or another content creation software), understand how posting on each social media platform varies, and is able to bring fresh ideas into our campaigns and everyday posts.What are we looking for?The social media manager will be in charge of posting on the social media accounts (notably Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) 2-4 times a week, coming up with a social media marketing strategy, and a posting calendar and providing fresh new ideas for each platform. We will require regular social media reports, and the manager must liaise with the Education and Projects Coordinator to ensure the timing and content of specific posts. The manager will be in charge of brainstorming sessions with other social media volunteers and the graphic designer volunteer and must collaborate within this small team of volunteers. We are seeking someone who is highly organised, good at keeping their own time, knowledgeable in social media marketing, and has an awareness or interest in either climate change, or environmental education. The applicant needs to have previous experience in social media marketing.What difference will you make?We are a small team, with only one full-time employee and a small family of volunteers. We need someone to help manage the social media and dedicate time to improve our engagement and outreach through multiple platforms. With the increased promotion of our charity, we can reach more young people and turn their eco-anxiety into climate action. We have lots of school requests from all over the UK, but less than we would like within our local area. The applicant will help us increase local engagement and go into more schools within our area.
