Can you help us get our ship in order? We’re looking for a secretary to support Rugby Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets. Having a strong and organised management team helps deliver a more professional and exciting experience.

What will you be doing?

As an independent charity, our Sea Cadet unit has a number of trustees to oversee the management and legal undertakings of the unit. The Secretary is to support the Unit Chair by keeping and publicising meeting notes to the other members of the Unit Management Team. The main purpose of all the Unit Management Trustees is to support the Unit Chair to manage a safe, effective and successful Sea Cadet unit. The secondary purpose of the Secretary is to assist the Unit Chair and to be responsible for maintaining and publishing auditable records of the unit’s meetings and activities on Westminster, the Sea Cadets administrative tool.

The Secretary is responsible for sending out calling notices and agendas for Unit Management meetings, Taking minutes at all UMT meetings. This role will undertake “regulated activity” and will therefore require an enhanced disclosure with barring check to be repeated at no less than three-yearly intervals.

What are we looking for?

Experience of being a trustee of a charity would be great but not essential. You’ll be organised and tech-savvy, willing to get involved and work well as a team.

As part of our board, you’ll help support our work and strategic direction, as well as help us deliver for our young people.

This role is vital as its the glue that holds our trustees together. As a trustee, you will be able to bring your whole self to the organisation and help progress the Sea Cadets. You’ll even have the opportunity and support to learn new skills.
