This is a truly exciting opportunity to play a important role in the UK of promoting Tiyeni through the transition from a local charity in Malawi on to the international stage; seeking someone experienced in PR, marketing, and communications.

What will you be doing?

This person would liaise closely with the part-time UK Development Manager (in London and/or remotely) and Tiyeni’s overseas implementation team (remotely) to assist with developing and implementing a new marketing and communications strategy. For example, at present there is a requirement to address -
  • Dealing with Facebook, Twitter, newsletters, website and any other digital exposure and appropriate social media, including extension of the existing Tiyeni diaspora to make a much bigger audience.
  • Looking at the Tiyeni Charity (UK registered CIO) and Tiyeni Malawi (registered with CONGOMA in Malawi) and streamlining communications and decision making between them.
What are we looking for?

We believe that the sort of attributes that are required include -
  • Marketing experience
  • Digital and social media
  • Application of marketing strategy to charitable/not for profit organisations.
  • Experience of the strategic use of social media as effective communication mechanisms to support fundraising.
What difference will you make?

It’s an exciting and challenging time with the charity’s current expansion across all 3 regions of Malawi. Tiyeni CIO needs further expertise within it and as a result is seeking someone experienced, motivated and actively engaged in PR, marketing, and/or communications. The potential impact is far reaching and this role could be instrumental in enabling Tiyeni to raise its profile, increase fundraising and communicate it’s message, making a big leap forward in the aim to reach all farming families across Malawi.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Now is an exciting to join and contribute to Tiyeni’s development - Due to the speed at which farmers have adopted our Deep Bed farming method, and the exponential demand from farming communities and NGOs for training, the trustees, staff and directors are working hard to take advantage of the increased demand; all project data is going towards generating scientific research on the effectiveness of the Deep Bed Farming method and learning lessons; and, we are aiming to embed the Deep Bed method in the education system in Malawi.
