We have an exciting opportunity to help re-grow Honeybourne Scout Group! You will work in partnership with the Group Trustees to grow and develop the group to provide great Scouting for young people in the local area.

What will you be doing?

Main tasks of a Group Manager.
  • Encourage Leaders and other helpers to deliver a wide range of diverse and varied activities to young people.
  • Provide line management and support to the Leaders in the Scout Group, including holding regular reviews and enabling them to access the great training and support network offered by Scouts Hereford & Worcester.
  • Liaise with volunteers in other Scout Groups to combine activities and interact with the wider District and County teams.
  • Engage with the Group Charitable Trustees (known as the Executive Committee) who provide governance support (finances, buildings, risk) to the leadership team.
  • Ensure a great Scouting experience for all young people and adults within the group.
  • Encourage the development of the Scout Group to be able to provide even more Scouting to young people in the community.
This role is normally supported by one or more Deputy Group Scout leaders to share the workload. There are volunteers within the group and District available to help and support into and throughout this role.

What are we looking for?

Skills Required Administration, Management (specifically of people), Strategy, Operations Management, Project Management

Appointment requirements Previous Management Experience essential. Understand and accept The Scout Association’s policies and become a uniformed member of the Scout Association. Complete the relevant training within five years of taking up the role and undertake ongoing training as required.

We are looking for an individual who is happy to support other volunteers but would like to get stuck in helping young people within Scouting and the community. Ideally you would have transferable skills however we have an amazing training programme to support you in this role.

This role is responsible to ensure that a fantastic, non-formal educational programme is designed by the young people in the group and supported by the volunteers to make it happen. Your job is to work with the volunteers and trustees to make amazing experiences for yourself and others, whether they’re 6 or 80 years old!

A few more details

The new group manager will be provided with support from the District to ensure a smooth transition into Scouts Hereford & Worcester and Avon Vale District.

The appointed volunteer will be required to complete an enhanced DBS (no charge) and agree to complete the mandatory training for this role. The person should be eligible to become a Trustee of the Scout Group.
