PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VOLUNTARY ROLE - AS A CHARITY WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE PAID EMPLOYMENT FOR THIS ROLE AT THIS TIME.

VOLUNTEERING alongside our dedicated team at our Equine Centre you will be responsible for ensuring that the animals in our care are directly looked after in all aspects of their lives:

- Mucking out (a physical role perfect for anyone wanting to get out in the fresh air!)

- Grooming (this is more than just a brush for our horses, this is chance for you to go over their entire body looking for lumps bumps and bruises to make sure they are in the best of health)

- Feeding and assisting with medication

- Supporting our staff as required (for instance when transporting horses to different sites)

Types of animals currently in our large animals care facilities (please note as a busy animal sanctuary this may vary): horses, goats, pigs, chickens. Our small animals facility is approximately 15 minutes away by car.

What kind of volunteer are we looking for?

- For insurance purposes we can only accept volunteers aged 18 years and over (unless on an educational placement) on this site

- Able to make their own way to and from our farm in Ravensfield (Rotherham)

- Calm and able to follow instruction: the welfare of the animals in our care is our priority and so we look for volunteers who are calm around the animals so that they are not easily startled. These are large animals and so it is vitally important that you are able to follow the instructions from staff to avoid anyone being injured.

- Willing to get involved with a can do attitude! This is not a site for white trainers or hands in pockets! There is always something that needs doing in this rural location and so we’re looking for dynamic volunteers willing to be flexible to meet the ever changing needs of a busy animal sanctuary.

- Experience working with horses and large animals is an advantage but not compulsory.

- Willing to commit to a regular volunteering slot on our rota between 9am - 4pm any day of the week.

The Process

Once you have applied you will be invited for an interview at The Farm to meet the staff and learn more about what the role entails. If we think you’d be the perfect match we will then arrange your induction and volunteering dates.
