An opportunity to join our small, productive and creative team that has successfully delivered a new community website for the Covid era as we prepare for major expansion, post lockdown.

What will you be doing?

The Crediton Heart Project is looking for an adaptable, computer literate team member, familiar with a range of data and graphics programs to help with the further development of our website.

You will be working as part of our volunteer website team, which includes a technical manager, an editor and a picture editor. This is a hands-on role, loading and updating content onto this professionally designed website using the Content Management System (CMS), dealing with technical issues and implementing new developments as part of a continual improvement process. The role would include liaison with our professional website administrator and designer.

Initially you will work alongside our technical manager, who will train you on the Webflow system so you can share and, ultimately, take over this role.

To keep the website relevant and interesting we are adding or updating content several times a week, so you would need to be available on a regular basis (approx 3 - 5 hours/week), although the work can be done in your own time. You will also be expected to attend occasional meetings with the website team to share ideas and discuss progress.

This role could include joining our Board of Trustees and sharing responsibility for running the charity. This would involve extra hours for attending our monthly Board meetings. But you could also join us as an associate, without these additional trustee duties.

What are we looking for?
  • A technical understanding of websites is essential, as well as experience of managing them.
  • Knowledge of Webflow would be helpful but not essential as training will be provided.
  • An ability to work closely with our team and to respond quickly to issues (such as updating or correcting content) is vital.
  • A design eye with visual awareness and the ability to source and use photographic images, to enhance the visual draw of the website, would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the Crediton area and an interest in community issues would also be desirable
What difference will you make?

Our website had been planned for some time but was launched in April 2020 during the first Covid lockdown. It has rapidly grown into a lively, interesting, useful and supportive resource for local businesses and communities but those of us running it are fully stretched. There is much more to do. Life is rapidly changing and the website must reflect this change. With your help the website can continue to grow and become the “go to” online resource for residents and visitors alike.

This will increase connections and engagement with the many opportunities and activities on offer locally, improving the health and wellbeing of local people. It will also provide vital support to our struggling local economy.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

The Trustees have different skills and experience which have brought this project to fruition in a practical and innovative way. They share a strong work ethic, professional approach and enthusiasm for the project, always looking for ways of using the website to support local communities.

Joining the project offers the opportunity for a challenging and interesting engagement, to share your skills and learn new ones, while making a real difference to the local community.

At present everything happens on Zoom
