Honeybourne Scouts are seeking a person to chair the group Executive Committee and support the restart of the group. The role acts as a trustee and is vital to support the growth of Honeybourne Scouts.

What will you be doing?

Proactively manage and support adults in the Scout District, ensuring that it runs effectively. The group Chair supports the Group Scout Leader (Volunteer Manager) to develop the group in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association, enabling Leominster Scout group to provide good quality Scouting for young people.

This role is a support role that does not require you to work directly with Young People but will provide support and sustainability to Honeybourne Scout Group.

Key tasks
  • Objectively and impartially chairing and facilitating Executive Committee meetings. Acting as the Chair of the relevant Scout Council.
  • Planning the annual cycle of Executive Committee meetings and setting the agenda for Executive Committee meetings.
  • Monitoring that decisions and actions agreed at Executive Committee meetings are implemented.
  • Working closely with the Group Scout Leader to ensure there are long term and short term goals and the role the Executive Committee can play in helping to achieve these.
  • Providing direction for the Executive Committee.
  • Ensuring that all members of the Executive Committee have been briefed and inducted into their roles, receive appropriate training, and are aware of their status as charity trustees.
  • Addressing and resolving conflicts that arise.
  • Membership and attendance of any working groups or sub-Committees set up by the Executive Committee, where appropriate.
What are we looking for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident person. Preferably someone who can bring existing skills but we have amazing training support if not.

You will be able to integrate into and lead an established team to deliver the business side of the Scout group as well as overseeing a diverse range of projects, inc Governance review, Growth and Development, and building management.

A few more details

The new Chair will be provided with support from the District to ensure a smooth transition into Scouts Hereford & Worcester.

The appointed volunteer will be required to complete an enhanced DBS (no charge) and agree to complete the mandatory training for this role.
