Key responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to create a range of effective video and audio internal communications to support B&Q’s business strategy and retail activity, managing the production process end-to-end. You’ll enjoy the challenge of getting stuck into a brief, coming up with creative concepts to bring ideas to life, and playing a key role in a fast-paced team. You’ll deliver compelling video and audio content to engage and inform our internal audience.

  • Manage all aspects of video and audio production from end-to-end (including concept, plan, shoot, direction, edit, sign off and release) ensuring that all elements meet internal B&Q brand and tone of voice
  • Collaborate and contribute to communications teams plans on content and timings to ensure consistency and manage delivery (including weekly vlogs, CEO updates, setplays, one-off campaign videos, event video support and podcasts)
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality content to schedule
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, from taking the brief and coaching them through to editing and final sign off
  • Operate a range of equipment (e.g. video cameras, drones, DSLRs etc), sound and lighting
  • Create digital graphics to bring edits to life, including GIFs to promote videos, events and campaigns
  • Build and maintain honest, trusting and collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Manage the team’s internal Microsoft Stream channel, including user training where needed
  • Champion innovation, with a focus on creativity, pushing boundaries where relevant to delight and inspire our internal audience
  • Measure the performance of all video and audio communications and seek feedback to ensure continuous improvement, understanding the needs of the internal customer
  • Support with one-off filming requests for PR and other areas of the Kingfisher business outside of B&Q.

Required skills & experience

  • Expert in video editing software, Adobe Creative Suite preferable
  • Strong knowledge of Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Audition specifically
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Yammer, SharePoint etc
  • Familiarity with using a Mac is desirable
  • Expert knowledge of managing online video e.g. Stream, Vimeo, YouTube
  • An excellent understanding of how to use video cameras, stills cameras, GoPros and sound equipment. Drone experience preferable (licence not required)
  • Working knowledge of best practices in video production e.g. structure and framing
  • Experience of creating basic motion graphics using After Effects
  • Graphic design experience e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Some knowledge of AV set up for events
  • Ability to prioritise workload with a high level of organisational skills
  • Track record of producing audio visual materials to brief, and demonstrable knowledge of what makes a good visual story
  • Experience of ‘on location’ shoots
  • The ability to prioritise competing demands on your time while under pressure and perform in a fast paced environment
  • Confident in dealing with stakeholders at all levels, including board directors.

Travel is required at least 2 days a week to stores so a driving licence is essential.
