An opportunity has arisen for a Victim Identification Officer working within the Paedophile Online Investigation Team at Northumbria Police. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to play a vital role in the protection of children.

You will provide specialist support to investigations through the examination of digital media for the purpose of identifying victims, offenders, and locations to maximise safeguarding of victims which will fundamentally contribute to our priority of bringing offenders to justice. What will I be doing?

You will be part of the Paedophile Online Investigation Team conducting investigations using specialist software to trace victims and offenders through a blend of traditional investigative methods and the digital footprint.

· Supporting and providing specialist investigative advice to officer’s force wide to inform suspect and victim-based interventions.

· Delivering presentations to partner agencies including schools.

· Conducting visits and providing guidance and advice to parents and children identified at risk.

· Completing and disseminating identification bulletins.

· Liaising with national/ international law enforcement.

There will be a daily requirement to review and categorise suspected indecent images of children.

You will liaise with investigating officers, specialists, and partner agencies to maximise identification opportunities and ensure safeguarding of children. You will also be required to to provide evidential reports, statements, and testimony at court where necessary.

What do I need?

· Investigative experience – PIP level 2 is desirable.

· Previous experience using software applications to problem solve.

· Excellent communication and organisational skills

· You will need to have the resilience to regularly deal with abusive and offensive imagery of extreme violence, obscenity, and depravity

You will be required to undertake a mandatory mental health assessment prior to appointment and subsequent six-monthly welfare assessments will be scheduled.
