The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to cover maternity in our first opinion practice (from the end of June for one year) to work Thursday and Fridays from 09.00 - 19.00, plus approximately one in four Saturday mornings sole charge cover. This position requires you to have a keen interest in surgery and to be confident in all neutering’s (including small furries).

About Us

We are a close knit friendly team working out of a single site practice on the outskirts of Southampton. We are on the edge of the New Forest National Park and close to the water sport amenities of the Solent. The practice was originally set up by Chris Carter in 1982 and some members of the team are still here. Added to these experienced individuals, we have a supportive team of nurses, most of whom we have trained in the surgery and have remained with us, who work exceptionally well together and 6 vets ranging from a first year graduate to vets with 20 years’ experience. We have three student nurses and the surgery enjoys teaching and sharing new ideas. We have digital radiography, ultrasonography, in house laboratory machines from Idexx, capnography and an E.C.G machine.

Applicant Requirements

We would like a Vet Surgeon to fit seamlessly into our busy, friendly team who has a good sense of humour and excellent work ethic. Some UK experience is desirable. We encourage new ideas and support CPD. You need to be self-motivated with an interest in all aspects of the job and the willingness to support and teach new Graduates neutering surgery skills.
