Veterinary Physiotherapist

Mobility matters are currently expanding their service provision and are looking for qualified Veterinary Physiotherapists to join their friendly team at their purpose-built Veterinary Rehabilitation Centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire. There are currently two positions available, 30 hours and 25 hours, per week respectively, to include evenings and weekends on a rota basis but this is negotiable and their service provision and availability could be expanded with the assistance of the right candidate; consequently there is opportunity for more hours if desired for any preferred applicant.

About Us:

Mobility Matters is part of the Pool House Veterinary Hospital group. We are a purpose-built Veterinary Rehabilitation Centre providing inpatient and outpatient services. We receive referrals internally and externally from all over Staffordshire, West Midlands, and surrounding counties, with strong established relationships with many primary care and referral practices in our locality. We have a large and supportive team of 10 Veterinary Surgeons and 20 Veterinary Nurses, that all strive towards clinical excellence. We are a progressive, forward thinking, evidence and objective assessment based treatment centre with an increasing client base. We provide integrative physiotherapeutic interventions, utilising an aquatic environment to aid our interventions, in our underwater treadmill and we are now introducing an increasing number of supportive electrotherapies to achieve restoration of maximal functional, optimum rebuild and recovery for our canine patients. We have a hydrotherapy wet room and a dry room for physiotherapy.

What we are looking for:

A qualified Veterinary Physiotherapist that has at least 6 months work experience within the industry and is keen to work in a busy, professional, yet friendly environment, that will provide the opportunity to work with a very interesting and varied referral caseload in addition to routine appointments. We are one of only a few RCVS accredited Tier 3 Veterinary Hospitals that offer Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy treatments within the UK. Consequently for the right candidate this would be a great opportunity to develop new skills within hydrotherapy application and MDT collaboration.

Our ideal candidate will have the below experience/Qualifications:

- Hold either a BSc (Hons) degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy or Post Graduate award in this field.

- Possess the ability to recognise canine body language and behaviour patterns and apply compassionate handling accordingly.

- Have excellent professional and client oriented communication skills.

- Be capable of working alone and as part of a team for optimal management of patients.

- Be competent in communicating with veterinary surgeons, specialists and other professionals.

- Have a strong interest in orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation, along with long term management and care of geriatric and arthritic patients.

- Possess the ability to identify pain both acute and chronic in nature and understand that pharmaceutical analgesia provision is always the primary and single most important initial intervention in patient care provision, while advocating a multimodal approach toward patient care for best possible outcomes.

- Recognise and work within thier scope of practice.

This is a unique opportunity that offers a dependable income and other employment benefits associated with working within corporate veterinary practice. We have a continually growing client base within a competitive and unpredictable sector of allied professionalism. We are able to offer a reliable internal and external referral stream due to our established good will and historically proven efficacy of intervention. We find ourselves in a position where demand for our service provision exceeds current availability. This position will offer a great deal of professional autonomy for the right candidate within a veterinary environment and vacancies such as this are few and far between.
