Job Purpose: To carry out general maintenance, repairs, servicing and maintenance inspections to a high standard.Shift: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00Pay: £15 per hour depending on experienceLocation: NewportBenefits

Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain equipment, machinery and processes.
  • Carry out work largely unsupervised to cost, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Resolve problems as they occur and liaise with appropriate personnel
  • Plan ahead for material and work requirements to ensure minimum disruption.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and keep records.
  • Stay abreast of developments and technical changes in field.
Specific Qualifications/ Job Training
  • Indentured apprenticeship to ONC/HNC standard, or
  • ONC or equivalent plus experience in transport/ automotive/engineering environment
  • MOT Testing experience preferred but not essential
Specific Skills
  • Ability to diagnose/repair mechanical breakdowns
  • Workshop machining skills
Specific Key Accountabilities
  • Service and repair of all types of passenger vehicles to manufacturers’ specification. Also check before working on vehicles as to the condition of the vehicle and record as necessary on the repair order.
  • Diagnose all types of faults and liaise with the Service Manager regarding additional work required and likely delay in completing work. Also, during the course of the job to tick off each item on the front repair order as it is completed.
  • Keep working area clean and ensure Company vehicles, equipment and special tools are used in the correct manner. Carry out the instructions of the Service Manager regarding parts removed from cars and adherence to workshop H & S Regulations.
  • Report to Service Manager recommended additional work for the customer’s approval.
  • Report to the Service Manager any tools or equipment that are defective.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of Company guidelines, procedures and Company policies to ensure that they are adhered to by yourself, other employees, suppliers and customers at all times to reduce any risk to Owens Road Services Ltd
  • Establish standards of housekeeping for the whole workshop and ensure that waste material is controlled and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure, the health, safety and well being of all employees and customers on site; and that all procedures with regards to health and safety are adhered to.
  • Attend all training course required to carry out your job role and continued development with the Company.
