Murphy Utilities Ltd provide utility infrastructure services across the Yorkshire region working in partnership with a small number of companies whilst also undertaking private works on a smaller scale. Established in 2011, the company has seen rapid growth in the past two years, expanding current contracts through consistent service delivery, which has led to expansion into new geographic areas. We are now recruiting for a Track Team to join us to work on our Fibre contract in the Harrogate area.

Role: Track Team-Fibre

Reports to: Contract Supervisor

Rate of Pay: Negotiable dependent on experience.

Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm.

Role Summary (Key Functions):

We are looking to recruit an experienced track team to work on low and high voltage overlays in the Humberside area. To use both mechanical and hand-dig techniques to excavate in highways and complying with NRSWA Code of Practice 1991 and HSG47.Your tasks will be undertaken on public highways, building sites and private residential land, and must be undertaken in a safe and responsible manner.

Requirements of the Gang:

  • Be a two-person team.
  • Both people in the team must have a full UK driving licence – one with a valid towing licence.
  • Be experienced of carrying out excavations within a major client network.
  • Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and design maps.

Typical Activities/Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all works undertaken are safe and in line with industry best practice
  • Risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety practices.
  • Set up site and remove site. Chapter 8.
  • Demonstrate an excellent level of customer engagement.
  • Able to inspect all work and work equipment for defects.
  • Defect/damage reporting.
  • Working in highways with pedestrians and live traffic.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work site, vehicle and tooling.
  • Achieve a high level of technical and commercial (timesheets, work sheets and fuel returns)
  • Escalates issues.
  • Whilst working on site ensure that the mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), boots, high-viz orange trousers or overalls, high-viz vest or jacket, hard hat, safety glasses and gloves for identified tasks and substances is worn.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A good understanding and experience of the Utility industry and specifically track work.
  • NRASWA qualification essential.
  • Excavator 360 Degree Digger qualified up to 10 tonnes.
  • Previous experience working on Civils related projects.
  • Awareness of health and safety
  • Computer literate and familiar with basic software packages.
  • Physically demanding role and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • A considerate approach to colleagues and the public. Minimise disruption from the site to the local community.
