About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint a University Librarian and Director of Library & Learning Services. In this role you will be responsible for leading, defining and realising an ambitious and realistic vision for the Division of Library & Learning Services which aligns with and supports the implementation of the University’s strategy and priorities. Reporting to the Registrar and Secretary, you will operate strategically both within the Registrar’s department and across the University more widely. You will have responsibility for the University Library, the Student & Library Information Services, and Learning Services; the University’s archives, modern records and information asset management.

The Library & Learning Services Division provides resources and quality services to support the University of Leicester’s new strategic ambitions. Our David Wilson Library building has seen continued investment with new and innovative learning spaces; the expansion of our demand driven digital collections, development of research infrastructure to enable open research and the provision of dedicated academic skills support for our students.

You will have the personal drive, enthusiasm and professional expertise to provide exceptional leadership for this highly successful service, working closely and productively with academic staff, researchers, students and professional services colleagues. This is a key senior management role offering an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to make a major contribution to the continuing success of the University through the design and delivery of an excellent library and learning service.

For more information on the role and its responsibilities please see the candidate brochure. Informal enquiries regarding this opportunity are welcome, and should be made to Geoff Green, Registrar and Secretary on geoff.green@leicester.ac.uk.
