About the role


  • Assist the team in the underwriting of property business for UK, Ireland and International wholesale markets, help maintai the current book and producing new business opportunities
  • Analyses and assesses Property submissions in respect of exposures and coverages. Identifies and negotiates the best position for Corporate Solutions including opportunities to lead programmes
  • Assists the team in developing marketing plans; identifies, analyses and pursues growth opportunities
  • Completes all underwriting processes and ensures business workflows are maintained
  • Develops and grows a network of brokers and clients
  • Underwrites the business in accordance with internal processes and guidelines
  • Cooperates with other supporting functions e.g. Claims, Risk Engineering, Business Services etc.

Main tasks:

Client focus

  • Develops and maintains a strategic dialogue and communicates proactively, timely and with transparency with clients and brokers
  • Establish a broker network, participates in broker visits and contributes to building and maintaining broker relationships in order to ensure a steady flow of new submissions
  • Develops and monitors action plans aligning client strategic priorities with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions capabilities.
  • Negotiates with brokers
  • Prepares quotations, structures programmes and offers proposals

Business focus

  • Develops new business opportunities and is able to triage submissions quickly and effectively - identifying viable opportun
  • Analyses business using existing tools combined with underwriting judgement
  • Supports the development of marketing strategies to expand position on current accounts and cross-sells other lines of business in cooperation with colleagues
  • Constantly looks for other areas and segments to engage in whilst developing our offerings in order to make them suit the market needs and practices

Leadership and Management

  • Ensures and promotes regular communication within internal stakeholders as well as externally to clients.
  • Good interpersonal, intercultural and social skills (communication, persuasiveness, team spirit)
  • Energised and a "self-starter", able and willing to take initiative and implement measures in a goal-oriented manner

Compliance and Controlling

  • Ensures compliance with all Swiss Re guidelines, underwriting and pricing parameters, best practices as well as Code of Conduct.
  • Ensures accuracy and reliability of financial reporting for assigned clients.
  • Ensures that relevant Group, Divisional and Business Unit deadlines are met.

About you


  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in property underwriting of medium to large corporates including in a lead capacit
  • Very good presentation and negotiation skills, customer focused approach
  • Team player, willing to learn the business and apply it in daily interactions
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Good numeracy skills, good PC and software skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Open-minded, trustworthy and enthusiastic.
  • At ease with leaving the comfort zone and performing under pressure with deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple deals in parallel without losing oversight.
  • Ability to successfully manage conflicts
  • High level of productivity and will to deliver
