UNDERWRITER

WELLINGBOROUGH (HYBRID)

Arkle Finance are a growing and dynamic Asset Finance firm providing corporate clients, SMEs and individuals with a range of asset-based financing solutions. We are recruiting for an Underwriter to review and decision proposals presented by our brokers and direct business introducers.

The role is based in our Wellingborough head office, and you will be required to be onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays for collaboration with the Underwriting team.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

  • Reviewing a wide variety of regulated and unregulated proposals that vary in value, liaising with senior colleagues / directorate as appropriate
  • Reviewing proposals to arrive at a reasoned decision and communicate that decision clearly to the introducer
  • Liaising with introducers as required to clarify proposal information and issue Acceptances / Declines / Further Information advice for reviewed proposals within a personal mandate level
  • Making recommendations and liaising with senior colleagues / credit committees for cases which are beyond mandate levels
  • Decisioning a set number of proposals at or above the agreed expectations of the company daily, within the set SLA’s and inline with the Credit Policy
  • Participating in Credit Committee discussions, providing a clear recommendation to be considered
  • Discussing and justifying decisions or further information requests when required with external parties (e.g. Auditor / Regulator) by reference to notes made at time of review
  • Providing a consistently high level of customer service for all introducers and customers

YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE

  • Strong Asset Finance market and underwriting experience with a good understanding of Consumer Credit Act and FCA Handbook
  • Recognised Credit Risk Management qualification (or working towards)
  • Capability to perform detailed financial analysis
  • A balanced view of commercial risk vs. credit risk with an ability to negotiate / amend transaction structures
  • Good understanding of finance products, documentation, and the risks therein
