Job description

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, results-driven leader to join EdTechs biggest and most anticipated global gathering in the education technology landscape.

As a Commercial Director, you will provide leadership, management, coordination, innovation and drive for the EdTech sales teams so that they can collectively deliver an outstanding experience for customers of the Edtech community, who come together to learn, network and trade, whilst also exceeding commercial objectives throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities:

? Strategy & Reporting

  • Achieve stated revenue targets for a portfolio of events
  • Provide all required daily, weekly, and monthly revenue data and tracking as requested by the SLT
  • Develop a strategy for integration of Hosted meetings and expansion across the extensive Portfolio
  • Perform financial analysis that will inform sales strategy and forecasts, etc.
  • Work with UK PD to identify market headroom and opportunity for future growth
  • Feed into the development of long-term strategic plans for the portfolio

? Sales Development

  • Develop the event’s sales plan, including rebooking, sponsorship and all other revenue streams, on-site activities at competitor exhibitions, scheduling meetings with bellwethers, identifying and targeting under-represented market sectors, etc.
  • Set stretching sales targets and continually manage your sales team to maximise revenues
  • Develop individual sales and performance targets for each sales team member and measure their performance against those targets
  • Ensure pipelines and future sales indicators are rigorously maintained
  • Establish stretching but rewarding commission and incentive plans for sales teams across all events and products
  • Work closely with international sales partners and colleagues to drive international sales
  • Work closely with Strategic Partnerships Director to drive Key Account sales
  • Develop, set and adjust the SPEX inventory & rate card in collaboration with the UK PD, Finance and Operations teams
  • Recruit and retain an exceptional sales team that shares your ambition to overachieve
  • Manage the sales team on a day-to-day basis, resolving internal conflicts, motivating team members, celebrating successes, and sharing show updates
  • Take mitigating action to address underperformance
  • Build and maintain key relationships vital for the success of the event
  • Work closely with Marketing, Content and Operations to ensure continuous SL values to customers
  • Develop sales communications and marketing initiatives, coordinated with Marketing and other departments
  • Lead the onsite rebooking processes

Skills Required

  • Successfully have led sales teams (ideally in conferences and/or exhibitions)
  • Developed a culture of high performance within sales teams
  • Track record of detailed and accurate sales reporting
  • Worked closely with other non-sales functions
  • Developed and maintained relationships with senior customers and industry stakeholders
  • Experienced in managing teams to deliver integrated products or services for customers
  • Led and guided teams through changes to their ways of working
  • Project management experience
  • Developed working relationships with remote or international stakeholders
  • Knowledge/experience of the EdTech sector
  • Understand strategic priorities and translate them into tangible actions
  • Develop and manage project plans and budgets
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Manage senior stakeholders, both within and outside the company
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to use initiative
